জুলাই-আগস্টের আন্দোলনে নিরাপত্তাজনিত কারণ দেখিয়ে ভারতীয় হাইকমিশন থেকে কর্মী প্রত্যাহার, সাময়িক ভিসা প্রদান বন্ধ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় ভারত সরকার। ভিসা সীমিত ও দু’দেশের মধ্যে রেলপথে যাত্রী সেবা বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়ার ফলে এর বিরূপ প্রভাব পড়েছে ভ্রমণ খাতে। সংশ্লিষ্টরা বলছেন, বাংলাদেশের ক্ষতির পাশাপাশি অচলাবস্থা নেমে এসেছে ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গের ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য ও পর্যটন শিল্পেও।
